The Sarex Process
The SAREX waste minimization and recycling technology utilizes various combinations of 3-phase centrifugation and low temperature indirect fired thermal desorption for the purpose of recycling permitted hazardous waste streams. These wastes include petroleum tank bottoms, hydrocarbon sludges and contaminated soils exhibiting hazardous characteristics and hazardous listings (including D018 benzene characteristic wastes). Hazardous wastes, when delivered to Pure Earth Recycling (NJ), Inc., are separated into 3 distinct phases of oil, water, and solids through the use of the SAREX process. Unlike hazardous waste treatment technologies, the process transforms wastes into recyclable products in order to minimize waste volumes, minimize waste generator liability, and maximize the recycling of materials by creating viable by-products which are sold back into commerce. Most importantly, the service is designed such that a wide range of media (pumpable wastes to solids de-watered wastes) are readily accepted at the facility. In all cases, the SAREX technology is classified by regulatory agencies as a legitimate recycling technology, thereby exempt from hazardous waste treatment permits.
The SRS SAREX System successfully recycles up to 90% of petroleum distillate contaminated media, refinery and Manufactured Gas Plant wastes into re-useable oil and water. Operating at a throughput rate of 15 tons per hour/300 tons per day, the process separates wastes into three distinct phases of oil, water, and de-watered solids accepted by the USEPA as an approved recycling technology, the process renders wastes into clean soils, soil-like solids and recyclable liquids.
